Who I would invite to tea P1

Content creators edition…

One thing about me is I love to host, so why not a tea party with all of my favourite content creators? Here are some creators I’m loving right now along with the tea I would serve them. Now this is not a complete list of content creators I love and learn from, it’s just those I’ve been keeping up with the most lately. Also this may seem like the most random collection of people ever - I would love to see how the conversations would play out in real life. Let’s get into it before the tea gets cold.

I am not someone who spends time scrolling through many peoples stories on Instagram. But when Melissa posts, you put down whatever you are doing and you watch with no skipping. There is such a small percentage of creators who are authentically themselves and Mel is definitely one of them. It feels like facetime and her audience can really connect with her, which is why anything she recommends, people will buy. This celebrity stylist has mastered how to foster organic online community. If she only has 10% to give, she will give 100% of that.

QUESTION: As someone who shares so much online, what boundaries have you put in place to keep your own peace?

TEA: I would serve her the M&S shortbread tea that she recommended because I tried it and it’s pretty great.

I recently came across this young journalist and I LOVEEEE her content. She posts clips of her interviews with A-List celebrities from Chris Hemsworth to Simone Ashley. She also has a series on her TikTok of Kardashian parodies if they were Tamil . The questions she asks her guests are always so well formulated and intentional which is something I aspire to do also. She’s a young girl like me experiencing life for the first time and making the most out of it. Something else I really love is how she shines light on her culture and invites her audience to learn more about it. Representation is key at every stage so it’s inspiring to see her embodiment of it.

QUESTION: Since you are a journalist and an aspiring filmmaker: If you could ask one question to your favourite filmmaker, what would it be and who would you be asking?

TEA: I would offer her an English tea with lots of milk and sugar, just to hear her Kourtney Kardashian impression since it’s not organic.

I am going to start with the sense of fashion. She just gets it. She will be at a premiere on the red carpet, interviewing the cast and you would think she was one of the actors. Vogue even did a feature on her recently highlighting the journalist who understands method dressing. She always goes with the theme and I would love to see her at the Met Gala. She doesn’t just interview, she has conversations with her guests and actually makes them laugh. My favourite interview she has done is probably the Denzel Washington one - go check it out.

QUESTION: Does method dressing help you prepare for red carpet interviews or are there other things you do to mentally get ready?

TEA: I would offer a camomile to relax and have a chill chat at the end of the tea party because she just seems like good vibes.

I started watching Vee one night when I was in sixth form with an essay due the next day. She popped up on my Youtube after I searched how to write an essay in one night (I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING THIS BTW). It felt like studying with a friend and after that, I would watch her videos all the time while studying. Her content is so motivating as a student who does so much outside of her studies too. She is a reminder that it is possible to excel in multiple areas of your life at the same time. If Vee can deliver speeches in front of world leaders while doing an assignment…so can I.

QUESTION: From all the great accomplishments you have done, which would 10 year old Vee be proudest of?

TEA: A ginger tea with lemon is the way for Vee because yellow is totally her colour and like ginger, she always has a kick to energise herself and others.

If you’re not on this side of TikTok, get there. This creator makes me laugh out loud with their acting skits based on everything from actors at the Oscars to period dramas. However besides the fact that I find these videos highly entertaining, the thing I admire is the consistency that is now being rewarded. I don’t even know how many years I have been watching this content of the same niche, getting better day by day before the steady rise in following and exposure. Hard work pays off. This is a reminder to figure out what your area of expertise is and work at it to be the best regardless of the size of your platform at first. You want 10 million followers? Then show up for your 10 followers as if every one was worth a million.

QUESTION: What is it about the TikTok community that is so great for actors?

TEA: Forget the tea, I want to give Paloma Diamond her Oscar because we all know she should have won. (Unfortunately you will only understand this lore if you are on this side if TikTok).

Thank you all for coming to my tea party, I’ll be hosting more with different themes from favourite authors and designers to YouTubers and journalists. Make sure to RSVP for our next tea party by subscribing to be the first to know when hot tea is being spilled.
